National Outreach

In addition to the calling to spread the gospel abroad, we also understand the command to be lights in our own country and our own communities. As Christians we share in Christ’s anointing. Christ fills us with His Holy Spirit and calls us to be His prophets who confess the Name of Christ to all.

Though we may and must do this as individuals, the church also sees fit to organize such domestic mission collectively. Mission work is understood to be the responsibility of the local church which neighbouring sister churches then support. By God’s grace and abundant blessing, over the half-century of our existence in Canada, several home mission posts have been established in various parts of the country.

Some examples of projects that are supported include:

  • Support for the Églisse Réformée du Québec ERQ mission church at St. Georges, organised by the Canadian Reformed Church of Owen Sound.
  • Operating under the supervision of Cornerstone Canadian Reformed Church, Hamilton, Campfire! Summer Bible Camp is a Christian, non-profit, overnight children’s summer camp organised by members of the Canadian and United Reformed Churches.
  • Streetlight Ministries is a joint project of the Ancaster Canadian Reformed Church and Fellowship Canadian Reformed Church of Burlington-South, begun in 1998. It is supported by many sister churches through regular collections. Streetlight Ministries’ mission is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of downtown Hamilton.
  • Voice of the Church is a media outreach program produced on behalf of the supporting Canadian Reformed Churches.  By means of 15-minute broadcasts they encourage you to become more familiar with the teachings of Holy Scripture and to learn about the plan of salvation made possible by the Lord Jesus Christ.
